Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, has denied reports over the location of the proposed University in Okun land, describing the news a premonition by some individuals.
He, however, revealed that the implementation committee, after several considerations, had concluded that it was more expedient to start the Kogi State University, Kabba at the current site of College of Education Technical Kabba while the College of Education will be relocated to another venue, preferably Mopa.
Briefing newsmen after the Kogi State executive council on Monday, Jones said the recently inaugurated implementation committee chaired by Prof. Olu Obafemi was working alongside other stakeholders to speed up the process of getting National University Commission (NUC) approval.
The state executive council approved a memo containing the bills for the establishment of Kogi state University, Kabba and other matters connected, 2023 while the State Attorney General was directed to transmit the bill to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage into law.
