Okun University: Anglican Bishop Commends Gov. Bello, Harps on Multi Campus System

The Anglican Bishop of Ijumu Diocese Church of Nigeria, Associate Professor Paul Ojo has commended Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello for the plan to establish a University in Okun land.

Prof. Ojo in a chat with Newsmen on the sideline of the 1st session of the fifth Synod of the Diocese, said the University is long overdue for the people of Okun land.

According to him, despite the exposure of Okun people to Education, the Area lacks a University, saying the move to create one is a welcome development.

The Bishop however emphasized the need to make the university to be established in a multi campus system to cut across Kabba-Bunu, Ijumu and Yagba land in order to make development cut across Okun land.

He advised the State Government to take a leave from the establishment of Federal University Oye Ekiti, which had its campus cut across neighbouring communities.

Prof. Ojo, who was delighted with the proposed establishment of the University, called on all Okun sons and daughters to support the realization of the higher Institution.

He stated that the announcement of the School is an answer to long time prayers, assuring of the support of the Diocese particularly with prayers.
