Okene Local Government Council to Establish New Cemetery

Okene local government council have concluded arrangements to open a new cemetery in Okene to replace the existing ones which by all measure cannot accommodate more corpse. 

The Administrator of Okene Local Government Area, Engr. Abdulrazaq Muhammad disclosed this on Thursday in a meeting with Islamic clerics in his office.

The Council Administrator said, an inter-religious committee will soon be constituted and they are expected to guide the government on the successful implementation of the plan.

He explained that government’s plan is to acquire large hectares of land that will serve as cemetery for a long period of time.

“We have already entered negotiations with representatives of clans in charge of the land and soon, the agreement will be presented to the state government for approval,” he said.

The Council Chairman said security arrangements have been put in place to check mate some alleged obnoxious activities going on at the existing cemetery by unidentified persons.
