Okene: Lawi Empowers 140 Women

The member representing Okene I state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed has empowered 140 women in Okene Local Government Area of the state with cash.
His media aide, Comrade Danfulani Lukman, told newsmen in Okene on Saturday that the women were selected from each of the 7 wards of his constituency.
According to Danfulani, each of the beneficiaries was given N10,000 to start a little businesses where they can at least get a daily bread for themselves and their kids.
He explained further that the gesture was part of the lawmaker’s efforts to empower women to enable them to become self-reliant.
According to him, it is also to empower the women to contribute meaningfully to the economic growth of their families and communities.
He added that Hon. Lawi has also concluded plan to register 35 students from his constituency for the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds judiciously in order to be self-reliant.
