The member representing Okene l state constituency in the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed, has obtained the nomination and expression of interest forms of APC to contest the 2019 House of Assembly election.
He obtained the forms amid cheers from large crowd of APC leaders, top government officials, women pressure groups and youths drawn from the area.
Speaking after collecting the forms, Hon. Lawi said the crowd and leaders that followed him to the venue were a clear indication of the people’s trust.
According to him, his desire to seek re-election to the House of Assembly to represent the people of Okene l State Constituency “is to continue ensuring that there is good governance in the state especially in the constituency and to continue providing a better representation to the people of Okene l Constituency and also heeding to the clarion call and insistence by stakeholders and community leaders of the area because of his qualities of good leadership and antecedents especially in the area of infrastructural development, human relationship with the people of my constituency and empowerment programmes which has touched so many lives over the years.”
He added that if elected, he would use his wealth of experience in community and human development to ensure that our community is taken to the next level as poverty and lack of basic infrastructure would be taking good care.
Hon. Lawi, after picking his forms, further paid the governor Alh. Yahaya Bello a courtesy visit to seek his blessings and support from the governor’s office. He also visited the SA to the governor on Local government and chieftaincy affairs Hon. (Engr.) Ohere Abubakar who assured him of his total support and also promised to donate five motorcycles to his campaign team to ease their campaign stress.
The Okene local government administrator who accompanied Hon. Lawi to collect his nomination form prayed for Hon. Lawi and also assured him of his 100% support in the primary and his election.
Among the people on his entourage was Okene local government secretary, Hon. Lukman Shehu, Okene local government APC chairman Alh. Yakubu Gowon, educational secretary Abdullahi Saratu, director protocol to Okene local government and chieftaincy affairs Hon. Sanusi Ovatuwa, supervisor for health Hon. Suleiman Jatto, supervisor for education Hon. Ishaq Ibrahim, supervisor for special duties, Hon. Suleiman Ovoro, supervisor for agriculture, Hon. Yahaya Musari, some APC delegates, some APC women leaders, the central working committee of Hon. Lawi and some of his teeming supporters.
