Ohinoyi Tasks Ebiras on Unity

The paramount ruler and the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, Dr Ado Ibrahim, has charged the people of Kogi Central Senatorial District to always engage on issue that can foster unity among communities, saying the district cannot afford to go back to the dark old days.

The monarch who gave the charge on Saturday during the 3rd month burial rites of the late Obobanyi Ohionwa, Jeremiah Aka’ava in Ihima , Okehi local government area of Kogi state, said the late monarch who ruled for thirty six years sacrifice a lot in ensuring that Ihima community remain peaceful.

Represented by the Esema of Uka, Dr Momoh Isah, the Ohonoyi of called on Ohionwa clan both at home and in diaspora to carefully appoint a credible person for the stool of Obobanyi Ohionwa who will continue the good legacy left behind by the late monarch.

Earlier, the Chairman of the occasion and retired President of Customary Court of Appeal , Justice Moses Bello described late Aka’aba as a man of peace and promoter of unity not only in his community, but across the senatorial district.

Justice Bello called on the state governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello and other prominent sons and daughters of Ebiraland to come together and work toward renovation of traditional ruler’s palaces.

“Most of the palaces of traditional rulers in the state does not befit the status of the monarch. I am appealing that the palaces should be renovated so that they can discharge their statutory responsibilities to their people.

“The original palace of Ohinoyi of Ebiraland should also be renovated to give it a new face lift,” the retire Judge said.

The Chairman of Ohionwa Elders Council Mr Edward Sani in his remark said the monarch was the 12th Obobanyi of Ohionwa clan who served his people for 36 years and died at the age of 116 years three months ago.

“We are celebrating him today for his love for the people without discrimination. He contributed immensely to the development and peaceful coexistent of Ihima community”
