Ogidi Community Honours Otunba Gani Adams With Chieftaincy Title

Another feather was added to already heavily nested cap of Otunba Gani Adams ,the national leader of the Oodua People’s  Congress OPC as he was honoured  with  Akinjagunla of Ogidiland by  His Royal Majesty Oba Rabiu Oladimeji Sule, the Ologidi of Ogidi  Kogi state.

 

Oba R O Sule while conferring the title of Aare Akinjagunla of Ogidi to the founder of Oodu Progressives Union (OPU) said the  honour is in recognition of his contributions to the socio-cultural development of Yoruba  race and  his role in promoting  and  fighting  for the interest of the race.

“Ogidi chieftaincy title is not for sale, we give to people  who with good character and pedigree, people who have contributed meaningfully for the development of  the society as a way of  encouraging them to do more

In his response, Otunba Gani Adams  commended the community for celebrating and promoting Yoruba culture and tradition through annual  ogidi day festival and others  despite the distance from their source.

This  is an encouragement and I want to assure you that I and my team  both at home and in the Diaspora will not relent in  struggle to fully liberate Yoruba race and  promote its culture and tradition.

He emphasized on the need to promote our culture, “ culture is different from tradition, we have a unique culture , our language , dressing  way of life  even the way we relate  is different from others and that is why we must continue to be grateful to God for endowing us with  such potentials   and other natural  things which can also be used  to develop our economy  through  tourism.
