The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kogi State Command has sealed two filling stations for selling petrol above government approved pump price of N145 per litre in Lokoja.
The Commandant of the Corps, Mr Obiyo Everistus, who disclosed this in an interview with pressmen on Tuesday in Lokoja, said the two sealed stations are located in Lokoja metropolis.
The Task Force inaugurated by the Corps to monitor the sales and distribution of the product, sealed, MOBILE and YISAB filling stations along Murtala Muhammed Way, Lokoja for selling above the approved price and diverting the product to black markets.
The Commandant, who led the operation, alleged that the marketers were creating artificial scarcity of the product in the state.
“I will not really say that there is much scarcity in Kogi State because there is no queue.
“What happened is that our brothers and sisters took opportunity of what happened in Lagos and Abuja, which, of course, is normal now.
“Our people and their normal way of doing things, started selling above government approved pump price and we have sealed a number of filling stations over it,” Everistus said.
He appealed to marketers to do the business in accordance with rules and regulations of the petroleum sector, saying that the present administration would not tolerate sharp practices in the industry.
He said that any marketer caught would face the wrath of the law.
Everistus, warned marketers not to indulge in under-dispensing of the products in the state, saying otherwise, they would face the penalty.
He appealed to the residents to complement efforts of the task force by providing useful information on filling stations hoarding and selling above pump price for appropriate action.
Most  filling stations in Lokoja are selling petrol between N300 and N400 per litre.
