NO PAY, NO WORK: RE-OPENING OF THE UNIVERSITY

Dear Comrades,

The steadfastness of our members during the cause of the struggle is highly commendable. Do not be swayed by the media hype report that ASUU is out to jeopardize the future of the students for refusing to commence its services despite the payment of four months’ salary. That is not true. ASUU leadership is experienced enough to read through the subterfuge of propaganda and lack of commitment.

ASUU leadership shall abide by our earlier resolution on the total payment of the backlog salaries as the only condition for the suspension of the ongoing struggle.

Following an understanding reached with the University Management Committee (UMC) refer to KSU/GR/GEN/02/vol III, 20th July 2016; our members are to resume academic activities on Sunday 24th July, 2016 conditionally.

This agreement does not in any way truncate our earlier resolution and struggle; but to allow student write their outstanding exams now slated for August 1st 2016.

For the umpteenth time, ASUU wishes to reiterate that the current action is devoid of any political or ethnic undertone, but a legitimate demand for payment of what is due to our members. Our struggle continues, we prevail on Government not to BACKSLIDE on its commitments.

Remember, United we stand, divided we beg.

Aluta Continua! Victoria Acerta!!!
