Kogi United FC Coach, Fatai Osho, has disclosed his team’s readiness to excel in the 2013/2014 Nigeria National League season, saying his players’ discipline will see the side weather the storm successfully.
The Lokoja-based club is in Group A of the league and will begin its campaign at home against Ranchers Bees of Kaduna on February 15 after the initial January 25 date was altered yesterday by the NNL Board.
“Our ambition to gain promotion to the Premier League will begin in earnest and I am confident we have the capacity to deliver the ticket,” Osho told National Mirror on phone from Lokoja yesterday.
“The state government under the leadership of Governor Idris Wada has provided us an enabling environment to succeed and the only way we can reciprocate the gesture is to win the ticket at the end of the season,” the youthful coach, who interestingly is a trained journalist, added.
“My players are happy with welfare package and are motivated for the challenges ahead. Of course, we will also not fail to entertain the supporters and fans while we are churning out victories.”
The former coach of Remo Stars said he would bring his experience in the NNL to bear on his maiden season with the Lokoja side.
“It is a familiar terrain for me. It’s still the same league, with virtually the same clubs. We will respect all but will fear none as we look forward to winning the league title,” Osho submitted.
