The local organising committee for the much anticipated 2021 Nigeria Media Merit Awards (NMMA) holding in Lokoja, the Kogi state capital, has assured all delegates of adequate security before, during and after the event.
Addressing newsmen in Lokoja on Thursday, the Chairman Security Sub-Committee NMMA, Navy Commander Jerry Omodara (Rtd) said all roads leading to Kogi state will be placed on 24 hour surveillance to guarantee maximum protection of all delegates.
Omodara disclosed that arrangement have been put in place to pilot and safely convey and return all delegates and guests to the event from Nnmadi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja.
“We are designing a compact system that will monitor the roads, streets, environments to ensure continuous peace in the state.
“We will also put the needed surveillance on all other routes leading to the state capital. Also, safety during the Media Tour across the 3 senatorial districts has also been put into consideration. Surveillance would be increased within the state capital and particularly the venues and hotel accommodations.
“The security agencies are fully prepared to host the event. We know the importance of the event and the high personalities expected. Just as we have been able to keep the State safe as one of the most secured states in Nigeria today, we will increase the tempo to ensure a successful program.
“His Excellency, Alh. Yahaya Bello has directed the 21 LG Chairmen to work assiduously with federal security agencies in their LGA as well our vigilantes and hunters. All roads must be put under 24 Hours surveillance,” he said.
Omodara assured that the state government will continue to increase and review human and technical intelligence that will guarantee safety of all citizens, during and after the NMMA.
He commended the Board of Trustee of NMMA for the choice of Kogi State to host the prestigious event this year.
