…urges Gov. Bello to hasten the workers’ screening process.

Against the backdrop of the worsening economic situation affecting the people across the states, the Deputy Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Honourable Aliyu Akuh has charged President Muhammadu Buhari to urgently fix the economy to reduce the abject poverty across the country.
The Deputy Speaker, a stalwart of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gave the charge while fielding questions from journalists over the weekend in Lokoja.
He noted that Nigerians are tired of passing buck on the previous administration, stressing that the failure of the economy and efforts to resuscitate it lies at the front door of the present government of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It is unfortunate for the president instead of working hard to finding solution to hardship suffered by the people, he was busy passing buck. Nigerians voted for him to solve problems and not for him to be trading their lives with complaints of who does these and that.
“I am not against his fight against corruption. It should be done within the ambit of rule of law. He should not jettison the economy, rather strive to assemble best brains and experts in economic matters to revamp the economy.
“We are not happy that more than a year in office the government of the APC does not know what to do with the problems. The people thought that having fought for this presidency for up to 13 years, he should have the blueprint, but unfortunately he seemed to be lost on what to do with the economy and this goes to show that the PDP had done well”, he disclosed.
Akuh hinted that the lingering crisis rocking the PDP at the national level between the faction of Senator Makarfi and Ali Modu Sheriff was almost being resolved saying that what is happening to the party is normal as with every human organisation assuring that the party will soon come out of the crisis stronger.
While stressing the need for the two leaders of the party, Sheriff and Makarfi, to bury their hatchets to bring about peace and progress to the party, he assured that the party will soon reclaim its position as the biggest party in Africa.
The lawmaker also advised the Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, to hasten the screening process as the long duration of the exercise has hoisted undue hardship on the people.
“To conduct screening to ascertain the actual and real workers of the state was a good policy decision, it should be handled in such away that the intended benefits would not be frittered away due to hardship occasioned by the exercise.
“As a representative of the people, the House of Assembly Members have intervened by asking the screening committee to address the inherent pains and suffering of the civil servants and pensioners”, he stated.
While stressing on the fate of the PDP in the state as result of the defeat in the last election, said he is working hard with the leadership of the party to ensure its early recovery advising members to be courageous and steadfast in rebuilding the party.
