NGO Gives Scholarship Award to Female Students in Ayetoro Gbede

As part of it efforts to take up the responsibility for the education of less privileged students in the society, Virtuous Women Pillars Club, a registered Non- Governmental Organization (NGO) has awarded scholarships to four indigent female students of Ayetoro Gbede Community High School, Ayetoro Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area, Kogi State.

Presenting the scholarship awards to the students at the monarch’s palace, the founder of the Club, Hajia Motolani Salawu said that the presentation of the award was to fulfill one of the objectives of the Club in seeing to the needs of the orphans, less privileged and products of broken homes in order to take up the responsibility for their education and well being.

Hajia Salawu revealed that the Club objectives amongst others include re- orientation of younger women on the basic principles and virtues for a more healthy society.

According to her, the Club has been organising periodic symposium and workshop for adolescents and teenagers on drug abuse, depression, suicide and peer group pressure.

She further revealed that the club has equally taken up the responsibility of monitoring the moral life of beneficiaries of the symposium and workshop

In his good will message, a member of Ayetoro Gbede Development Association (AGDA) Mr. Femi Aladuge commended Hajia Salawu for her efforts and prayed God to reward her.

He called on sons and daughters of the area to contribute to the growth and development of the town.

The presentation ceremony was done on behalf of Hajia Salawu by the wife of Olu of Ayetoro Gbede, Olori Ehindero who advised the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity. 

The highlights of the event include the presentation of school bags, school sandals, uniforms, socks and writing material. It was attended by the Principal of the school and the parents of the beneficiaries.
