A non governmental organization, The State Political Voice, has commenced its campaign for power shift from the Kogi East senatorial district to the Western axis of the state.
The group publicity secretary and spokesman Comrade Bayo Mohammed Onimode disclosed this to The Herald yesterday in an exclusive interview in Lokoja.
He said the inability of past governors of the state from the Igala dominated speaking areas since the state was created in 1991 to effect any positive change is reason behind their demand for a change from the old ways of electing another Eastern senatorial district person again.
“Since past leaders from that area has failed to give us good governance and deliver all their campaign promises it is better we try those with governorship ambition from the other 2 senatorial districts of West and central of Kogi state”.
He said the agitation is to balance the political equation and marginalisation of the other 2 senatorial districts that has never has a taste of the state governance since 1991.
“The people of Kogi state need change to recover from past years of neglects and marginalisation”.
“Change is required to free ourselves and our people from the shackles of tribal politics and slavery”
Comrade Onimode also disclosed that the group is working out a mutual agreements with like minds from other senatorial districts to achieve its lofty goal.
“We are discussing with other groups with similar aim in the Kogi central senatorial district to achieve our goal of ensuring power shift to either Kogi West or central senatorial district of our state’.
