A socio-political group, Patriotic Progressives, has admonished some persons aspiring for chairmanship of Yagba West council to jettison their ambition in the over all interest of the local government.

In a statement signed by the coordinator, Ademola Bakare, the group said the aspiration of some these persons is an attempt to abuse the age-long zoning tradition in the local government.

The group insisted that the next LG Chairman should emerge from Odo Egbe.

The statement said aspirants clamouring to be Chairman of the local government should quietly shelve the ambition as it will not fly.

The group said aside trying to corrupt the zoning system, some of the aspirants actively engaged in anti-party activities in the last general elections.

“Records in last general election showed one of these aspirants supported Labour Party presidential candidate. We have it on good authority that he the LP local government coordinator.

“It is public knowledge that he voted for Teejay Yusuf, the candidate of opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the senatorial election, despite his assumed relationship with Hon. Sunday Karimi. For the House of Representatives, he supported Leke Abejide of ADC.

“He has been a disruptive figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), the same party platform he is aspirating to become chairman,” the statement read.

They group urged aspirants to play politics by the rules and respect the tradition of Yagba West LGA.
