On 10th of may 2016, Ijumu kingdom witnessed a political leadership generational change with a cheerful crowd chanting “NA GOD WIN”. The youth took center stage, all traditional rulers in Ijumu graced the occasion with colourful royal attires.
KEYNOTE ADDRESS BY HON. ALH TAUFIQ A. ISA, CARETAKER CHAIRMAN, IJUMU LOCAL GOVERNMENT
The head of Local Government Administration, The Reagent of Ijumu,all other Royal fathers here present, Political leaders in our midst, the clergymen here present, Gentlemen of the press, ladies and Gentlemen.
I feel highly honoured to be called upon by His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (Na God win O), the Executive Governor of Kogi State to take the mantle of leadership of Ijumu Local Government. I have tremendous respect for the management and staff of this council and I am totally committed to sustaining that.
My dear people, I am deeply humbled and count it a great honour to serve as the Administrator of Ijumu Local Government council. I am humbled that his Excellency considers me worthy to be reposed with such tremendous confidence as the first among equals at such a critical moment in the history of our Local Government. It is a rare privilege and unique call to serve.
Local Government is a very strategic and an important arm of Government that requires a viable and virile person to oversee. Surely this administration cannot succeed in its assignment without your unalloyed support and cooperation.I therefore wish to use this opportunity to extend my hand of fellowship to you all and to seek your support,usual and genuine advice from time to time irrespective of our political and ideological learnings. Ijumu is one and it shall remain one united family. And it is our collective responsibility to protect her image and make it the pride of all.
In the same vein, It is my vision that we must all collaborate with the present administration in the state ably led by the God’s chosen Governor His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello(Na God Win o) and the APC Government at the Federal level so that we can adequately reap the dividend of democracy. To us the committee members ,if Public confidence in us must be sustained and strengthened,we must rise to the challenges of our collective mandate and demonstrate honest and transparent leadership qualities with exemplary conduct at all times in the discharge of our duties. This committee unarguably is made up of men proven integrity with record of accomplishment in various fields of endeavours. We are best suited to help sharpen the future destiny of Ijumu Local Government.therefore,we must work assiduously towards the pursuit of the good of all Ijumu people.
To our Royal Fathers,there is no Government any where in the world that would succeed if it does not maintain harmonious relationship with traditional rulers. At the same time, no traditional ruler will succeed without maintaining a cordial, respectful, mutual, admirable relationship with the government of the day. I therefore, urge you to support His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello(Na God Win o)’s administration for the benefit of our people.
To our youths and women,please be calm.shun violence and any act capable of destroying your future. His Excellency is already working out modalities to address your issue,while at the grassroot here; we shall do everything humanly possible to assist you.
On security, it is high time I warn criminals and the lawless people in our society to desist from their callous acts or face the wrath of the law.
To the workers, with Almighty Allah on our side, and the determination of the Executive Governor, salaries owed will be paid in no distant time. I therefore urge you to be honest with yourself by doing the right thing at the right time. I urge you to shun corrupt tendency that will destroy the future of our Local Government, state and Federal Government.
I pledge, with the support and cooperation of all committee members,the management of this council, the traditional rulers, the entire people of Ijumu and by the grace of God, I shall not disappoint His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello(Na God Win o).
Finally, I pray that Almighty Allah will grant us the courage to speak the truth all the time and the wisdom to lead fairly and with the fear of Allah.
Once again, I thank Allah and His Excellency Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello (Na God Win o) for the confidence he has reposed in me to lead this committee to higher glory.
