The Network of Igala Associations (NIA) has lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for reviving the Ajaokuta Steel project, which has been moribund for over 30 years.
The group said if the project is working at full capacity, it would be able to generate enough revenue for the country and reduce the reliance on oil.
A statement by the leader of the group, Comrade Ojile Ibrahim, said the federal government’s efforts to diversify the economy is yielding positive result.
However, the network pointed out that the issue of the oil discovered in Ibaji area of the state has not been properly addressed.
It also noted that the coal mine at Okaba in Ankpa Local Government Area has not received any attention.
The group further urged the president to appoint a minister from Kogi State to replace the late Barrister James Ocholi, who died in March.
