NDE Disburses N2m Loans to 200 Unemployed Youths in Kogi

The National Directorate of Employment has disbursed N2 million as loan to 200 youths at Ajaka in Igalamela/Odolu Local Government Area of Kogi State under its Micro Enterprises Enhancement Scheme.

The disbursement which was facilitated by a Board Member,  Aliu Ugbane have farmers, traders and artisans selected from Ofu, Igalamela and Idah Loccal Government Areas of Kogi East Senatorial District as beneficiaries.

Each of the recipients received N10,000.00 to enable them enhance their enterprises.

In his welcome address, the Kogi State Coordinator of NDE, Mallam Zakari Abubakar, reiterated the commitment of the directorate to create jobs for the teeming unemployed persons.

He said that the NDE has just recruited about 290 unemployed youths into the programe this year in Kogi State under its agricultural, vocational skills, small scale enterprises and special public works programmes.

He said that the state government has also commenced the process of recruiting additional 1,000 unemployed youths and women into vocational skills programme.

In his goodwill message, the Administrator of Ofu Local Government Area,  Mr  Patrick Onogwu,  thanked the NDE and the federal government for their efforts in combating unemployment and asked for areas of collaboration to address the menace of youth unemployment.
