The member representing Lokoja 11 constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon Idris Ndako has urged lawmakers at state and federal levels in the country to go beyond enacting laws and reach out to the electorate particularly the vulnerable groups.
“It cannot always be about representation and legislative work, it is also about caring for those around us, those we represent and even those we do not represent.
“I urge members of state and national assemblies to reach out and give support to the people they represent so that they can continually feel the presence of and the impact of democracy”, he said.
Ndako spoke during an interactive session with journalists at his Felele residence as part of activities to mark his one and half year in office.
The chairman House committee on Government House Administration said reaching out to the vulnerable in the society would go a long way to improving their lives and give them hope.
According to him the empowerment programs he initiated last year was meant to fulfil some of the promises he made during the electioneering campaign.
“This is part of my duties of representation in the State Assembly. We are taking stocks of what we did and also to give our people the opportunity to ask questions and suggest the way forward.
The Townhall meeting, which first of it kind to be organised by any lawmaker from Lokoja 11 constituency since the inception of democracy in 1999, is to afford electorates from his constituency the opportunity to ask questions and suggest the way forward.
