In a period when Nigeria’s mineral wealth should be a pillar of national prosperity, the House Committee on Minerals Exploitation, Security, and Anti-Money Laundering has risen with renewed conviction to protect what rightfully belongs to the Nigerian people. At the heart of this renewed commitment stands Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem (SEA), whose leadership continues to reflect courage, clarity, and patriotism.

During a decisive committee session, Hon. SEA issued a directive summoning the Minister of Solid Minerals, Dr. Dele Alake, alongside the Director-General of the Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, to appear before the committee.

This action was not merely procedural, it was a strong demonstration of national duty. With illegal mining escalating across various states and bleeding the nation’s revenue, the committee deemed it urgent to confront the matter with transparency, accountability, and strategic depth.

Hon. SEA, speaking as Chairman of the Committee, revealed that a detailed work plan had already been designed and structured into several phases. These phases include targeted working visits to all relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to rebuild synergy and strengthen institutional cooperation. The committee will also host open, interactive sessions with selected agencies to gather firsthand insights and clarify grey areas affecting mineral regulation and security.

His message was clear and deeply reassuring:

“We are committed to this mandate and will discharge our duties patriotically. As representatives of the Nigerian people, we understand the value and importance of our mineral resources to the development of our nation.”

With a tone anchored in responsibility, the Ajaokuta Federal Lawmaker emphasized that the committee will conduct a comprehensive investigation that goes beyond surface findings. This inquiry will uncover the root causes of the growing illegal mining menace, evaluate its economic and security consequences, and expose the networks benefiting at the expense of the nation’s revenue.

This proactive stance not only reflects the seriousness of the issue but also showcases the quality of leadership that the constituency and nation can be proud of. Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem has once again demonstrated his rare commitment to national development, transparency, and the protection of Nigeria’s collective wealth.

As citizens, we extend our deep appreciation to Hon. SEA and the entire committee for taking bold steps at a time when decisive action is urgently needed. Their dedication is a reminder that leadership, when anchored in integrity, can become a powerful tool for national transformation.

Indeed, the journey to sanitizing Nigeria’s mineral sector has begun and with leaders like Hon. SEA steering this vital oversight mission, hope is not just alive; it is rising.
