Natasha’s Monetary Inducement of Masses Amidst Security Threats: A Test of State Govt’s Magnanimity

Earlier on Monday, the Kogi State government, led by His Excellency Alh. Ododo Ahmed Usman, issued a directive banning all forms of procession, rally, and unnecessary gatherings due to credible intelligence reports on security breaches that could destabilize the state.

This development prompted the executive Governor to take proactive measures, including a security meeting with the leadership of the Kogi State Traditional Council, led by the Attah of Igala where they agreed on modalities for ensuring peace and security in the state.

The Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Oye Aya, also supported this arrangement, deploying security operatives to affected areas and complying with the ban on unnecessary gatherings and processions in the state for the time being.

Contrary to this, the suspended Senator of Kogi Central Senatorial District defied the order, declaring a Sallah homecoming and planning a 20km procession to her residence. Despite the masses’ reluctance to gamble with intelligence reports and the law, the suspended Senator induced poor masses with ₦2000 each as mobilization fare to defy the state government and security operatives’ orders.

The recalling of the suspended Senator has reached the verification stage and is slated to hold on Wednesday, April 2, 2025. People view Natasha’s homecoming desperation as a ploy to make propagandist claims on media houses, rubbishing the recall process and using the gathered people to claim her people were forced to recall her against their wills.

While elites refused to put their lives in danger, Natasha mobilized minors and vulnerable people she never cared for in her constituency to achieve her aims. This led to leaked WhatsApp messages among her mobilizers, with some absconding with the mobilization money.

Natasha arrived by helicopter, leaving the mobilized minors and vulnerable individuals under the scorching sun. She has once again violated constituted authority, repeating her wrong steps in the senate over the seat controversy.

Many expected the state government to disrupt the process and arrest individuals who defied the order. Instead, heavy security operatives were deployed to critical areas near Natasha’s residence to prevent hoodlums from taking advantage of Natasha’s procession propaganda and unleashing danger on the poor masses.

The state government, under Governor Ahmed Ododo, has always prioritized the people’s welfare. If heartless individuals were in charge, Natasha’s actions could have pushed Kogi citizens into further misfortune, exposing them to danger and causing unrest in the name of political propaganda.
