NASS Siege: Group Commends Aidoko, Others for Defending Democracy

Senator representing Kogi East, Atai Aidoko Ali and his colleagues from Kogi State has been praised for protecting democracy when security agents invaded the National Assembly complex last week.
The Atai Aidoko Ali (AAA) Continuity Group hailed Senators Ahmed Ogembe and Dino Melaye for their doggedness and patriotism.
The group’s media director, Idris Yakubu gave the commendation while interacting with newsmen in Abuja on Monday.
He described the attitude of the security agents and their collaborators at the corridors of power as a shambolic, causing the nation international embarrassment.
The group noted that posterity will be fair to Senators Aidoko, Melaye and Ogembe as they have carved a niche for themselves in standing firm in defence of democracy.
The AAA Continuity Group argued that the invasion of the National Assembly by security agents is alien and draconian, particularly as it negates democratic norms world over.
The group urged international communities to call President Muhammadu Buhari and other top government officials to order to avoid repeat of the desecration of the legislative chambers.
The group urged Nigerians to support the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in its quest to enthrone a lasting democratic practice generally acceptable world over, that will guarantee the freedom of expression, arrest growing unemployment, fight corruption devoid of witch hunt and political persecution, address the dearth of infrastructural development, ensure genuine empowerment policies, design a generally acceptable and sound agricultural programs that will create bumper harvest, as well as create job security.
At the home front, the group appealed to members of PDP to support Senator Aidoko’s desire to return to the senate in 2019 to enable him continue the project of placing the people of Kogi East in the comity of developed and socially satisfied areas, in terms of social safety nets.
He promised to support the political class whose ideas are in line with the ideals of Senator Aidoko.
AAA Continuity Group urged PDP senators at the red chamber not to succumb to any illegality been perpetrated by the ruling party, saying the only way to remove the senate president is to follow laid down procedures as spelt out in the constitution.
They expressed support for the leadership of the National Assembly headed by Senate President Bukola Saraki and Speaker Yakubu Dogara, describing the duo as detribalized Nigerians with high level integrity.
