NAKOSS Builds Students Relaxation Centre in Honour of Kogi Poly Rector

The National Association of Kogi State Students (NAKOSS), Kogi State Polytechnic chapter, has commissioned a students’ relaxation centre in the Lokoja campus of the institution.

Speaking at the commissioning of the project on Saturday, President of NAKOSS (Kogi Poly chapter), Comrade Adekunle Kuburat said the project is a testament to the power of collaboration, dedication and vision.

Comrade Kuburat said the relaxation centre named after the Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman, said the project symbolizes NAKOSS’ unwavering commitment towards the care for students well-being and to promote academic success.

She stated that the Kogi Polytechnic chapter of NAKOSS has successfully executed projects in the institution, including replacement of white boards in various halls (Hall M2, A2, R1, R3 and computer science hall).

According to her, the association renovated signboards that indicate the values of the institution.

Comrade Kuburat added that the association also provided solar street lights in Itakpe campus in order to luminate the campus for the safety and security of students.

“I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the energetic, dynamic and result oriented brand new Rector, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman who has been my role model and the school management for their immense contribution to the success of not the project alone but the association at large. I want to say a big thank you to you all.

“I would like to appreciate the efforts of the Dean Student Services, Dr John Adaviruku Alyu, Director of works and services, Engineer Adamu Abdullahi Anyi and the Director of Physical planning, Mr Idoko Ojonumi Felix towards the construction and building of this awesome project, I cannot take your contributions for granted and I say a big thank you.

“To the executive of NAKOSS, I would like to appreciate you for your cooperation, efforts, hard work and dedication towards the success of this project. Thank you.

“This project represent more than just a physical structure or a new initiative. It embodies our association’s values mission and purpose. Let us celebrate this achievement but also recognize the responsibility that comes with it. Let us continue to work together to ensure the success and sustainability of this project,” she said.

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, ably represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Samuel Taiwo Olowo, commended the NAKOSS President and executive for their visionary leadership and commitment to leaving a lasting legacy, while also eulogizing the patron and matron for their invaluable support and guidance, which collectively led to the achievement of a laudable feat.

He commended the NAKOSS leadership for their prudent management of resources, a trait he noted was inspired by the Rector’s exemplary financial management, which has earned him several awards for effectively managing the Polytechnic’s funds.

He congratulated the NAKOSS leadership for the feats, and praised their hard work, dedication, and vision that made the commissioning of the Prof. Salisu Ogbo Usman Relaxation Centre a reality.

The principal Officers, in their goodwill messages, unanimously urged successive administrations to build upon the remarkable achievements just as they commend the President for exemplary leadership, value addition, and earning Management’s applause, which they noted will endure long after their tenure.

The Senior Special Assistant to the Executive Governor of Kogi State on Youth Mobilization, Honourable Abdulkadir Destiny and the National Director of the Peace and Conflict Directorate of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Comrade Michael Achor Joshua, praised the President and her executives for their outstanding leadership in erecting a magnificent edifice for the students.

They expressed their admiration for the administration’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for student success.
