Chairman, Kogi State chapter of United Labour Congress (ULC), Comrade Simeon Opaluwa has berated the Nigeria Governor’s Forum (NGF) over the body’s stand on the new minimum wage.
In a statement, Opaluwa urged Nigerians and workers to ignore the position of the Governors’ Forum.
He warned the governors that Nigerian workers will readily issue the ‘Red Card’ to any defaulting political officer holder in the next elections.
“We have over the last twenty four hours studied the resolution and position of the Nigeria Governors’ forum on the recommendation of N30000 by the minimum wage committee.
“To that effect, the United Labour Congress in Kogi State wish to state that their position shouldn’t be taken serious by any right thinking Nigerian as we view it as a huge joke. We wish to remind the Governors that they are the people’s servant in the first instance and their accountability is to the people.
“Nigerians have tolerated the extravagant lifestyle of some of them. Enough is Enough! We wish to make it known to them that on N30000 we stand and nothing else. Again, they should be reminded that the Nigerian workers are instrumental to their coming to office and shall not hesitate in issuing the RED CARD to any of them that failed to yield to the demand of the workers in the coming election,” he said.
Opaluwa challenged any Governor that feels he cannot pay the N30000 minimum wage to resign his honourably from office before workers wield the big stick.
