Thousands of Muslim faithfuls from Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency converged in Lokoja today for a special prayer session for the Deputy Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Rt Hon. Umar Buba Jibril.
The prayer session which took place at the lawmaker’s Lokoja residence had in attendance many Islamic scholars, politicians, women, chieftains of opposition PDP and members of Civil Society Organisations.
The mammoth crowd recited the holy Qur’an and supplications led by the acting Chief Imam of Lokoja, Mallam Aminu Sha’aban.
A Special Assistant to the Speaker, House of Representatives, Alhaji Mabo Kassim, who spoke on behalf of Hon. Buba Jibril, said the prayer was organised to show appreciation to Almighty God for safeguarding the life of the Deputy Majority Leader.
He said, “We organised the prayer session to show our appreciation to God the Almighty for safeguarding the life of our leader and member representing Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency who returned safely from a medical trip recently. Our leader has fully recovered and returned to Lokoja safely.
Speaking shortly after the prayers from the Islamic scholars, representatives of the Maigari of Lokoja, led by Waziri of Lokoja, Alhaji Abdulraman Babakurum thanked Allah for the safe arrival of Buba.
Babakurum further urged the Islamic scholars not to relent in their prayers for Buba, Lokoja and Kogi Local Government people.
In attendance were former commissioner for environment, Hon. Abdulrahman Wuya; Hon. Baba Sulaiman Dan Sarki, Kogi State APC Vice Chairman, Hon Osone Tatu; Sheikh Yusuf Zaria, Khalifa Kenchi, among others.
