In a significant development that could potentially reshape the political landscape of Kogi State, stakeholders from Lokoja and Kogi (Koton-Karfe) Local Government Areas have united to endorse Alhaji Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP).
According to Yusuf Adams, the endorsement came after series of fruitful meetings involving key individuals from both Lokoja and Koton-Karfe.
Among those present were Hon. David Ehimony, a seasoned administrator from Lokoja LGA, and Hon. Danladi Bababudon, a two-time Assembly Member from Lokoja 2.
Also in attendance were two former Commissioners for Transportation, Hon. Abdulrahman Wuya Okpasko and Hon. Muhammed Awwal Imam, as well as Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Adangere, the former Caretaker Chairman of Kogi/Koton-Karfe.
The gathering also included Hon. Ehimony, a former Leader of the Lokoja Local Government Legislative Council, Hon. Yusuf, Hon. Bawa, Alhaji Khalid, Dr. Labaran, and other prominent individuals who wield influence in the region.
Adams noted that the diverse representation of stakeholders underscored the broad support that Muri enjoys across different segments of society.
“One of the key messages that emerged from the meetings and subsequent endorsement was the resounding rejection of Governor Yahaya Bello’s purported 3rd term agenda.
“The people of Kogi are clearly expressing their dissatisfaction with the notion of extending Bello’s tenure beyond constitutional limits.
“Muri’s candidacy has gained momentum due to his exceptional credentials and achievements. His reputation as a competent and visionary leader has earned him respect and admiration from the populace. With a wealth of experience in administration and governance, Murtala Ajaka has the potential to bring about positive change and address the pressing issues that confront Kogi State.
“The endorsement by stakeholders from Lokoja and Koton-Karfe sends a powerful message to the political establishment. It signifies a growing discontent with the current administration and a demand for fresh leadership that prioritizes the welfare and development of the state.
“As the gubernatorial elections draw nearer, it is expected that Muri’s popularity will continue to surge, fueled by the support of these influential stakeholders. The united front presented by the Lokoja/Koton-Karfe the stakeholders further bolsters Muri’s candidacy and increases his chances of emerging victorious in the upcoming polls.
“The people of Kogi State have spoken loud and clear, and their message is one of change and progress. The endorsement of Muri by the Lokoja/Koton stakeholders marks a significant turning point in the state’s political landscape, as the citizens seek a brighter and more prosperous future under new leadership,” he said.
