A pan-Kogi pressure group, Hope Kogi Development Initiative (HKDI), has restated their conviction that Hon Murtala Yakubu Ajaka, the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressive Party (APC) is competent and the most qualified to succeed Governor Yahaya Bello come 2024.
In a press conference in Abuja, the group’s coordinator, Comrade Ajodo Monday Ojotule Damian, said its members have benefited from Muri Ajaka’s generosity and patronage.
The group stressed that they were particularly impressed with Bello’s statement that he has not anointed any candidate to succeed him.
Monday Damian pointed out that based on the assurance, the coast was now clear for the people of Kogi State to put more pressure on the delegates to vote overwhelming for Muri Ajaka to win the governorship primary of the party because he is a material and they strongly believe the people of Kogi state will not regret supporting to become their governor.
“We are aware that pressures from different quarters within and outside the state are mounting on the Governor to pick someone from the central or west senatorial zone to succeed him but that he is still weighing the options,” he said.
The group admonished APC delegates to hearken to the voice of the people and support Muri Ajaka to win the primary election, considering his philanthropic and youth empowerment programmes which cuts across the whole state.
Comr Ajodo Monday extolled the leadership qualities of Muri Ajaka whose contribution to nation building was fully recognized by the ruling party through his membership of the national working committee. He described him as detribalized Nigerian.
The group noted that Muri has established himself as a disciplined, focused and consummate politician who can manage people and resources effectively.
“Besides, he has employed hundreds of youths to earn a living through his private ventures as a public relation consultant. And above all he has a foundation solely meant to assist women, particularly widows and indigent students to further their education. As we speak hundreds of Nigerians, not Kogites alone, are benefitting from his scholarship scheme in various universities across the country and beyond.
“We strongly believe that Muri’s unique selling point is his accessibility, humility and generosity,” he added.
He noted that Muri’s cognate experience in the politics has enabled him to traverse the globe and opening vista of network and opportunities which if eventually elected as governor of Kogi State the entire people of the state would benefit tremendously.
On the issue of experience, the group pointed out that Muri was well versed in managerial and leadership skills, adding that he can fit into any position of leadership considering his qualifications educationally and administratively.
He appealed to the people of Kogi state to support Muri Ajaka to win the next governorship election.
