• Moves to provide support to bring succour to victims
Former aspirant for Idah/Igalamela Odolu/Ibaji/Ofu Federal Constituency of Kogi State, Alhaji Mubarak Abuche has sympathised with the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and his deputy, Chief Edward David Onoja and the entire people of Kogi State over the unfortunate incidence of flooding which has submerged many communities across the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the CEO AL-Mubee Group and Emperor Integrated Services Limited noted that the annual reoccurrence of this disaster calls for concerted efforts of all and sundry towards a sustainable solution going forward.
“Our people are already grappling with global economic challenges and can’t afford nor endure this natural disaster for long.
“While we will continue to provide our little support to bring succour to victims of this unfortunate disaster, I urge the federal government to direct its relevant agencies to provide urgent humanitarian intervention for victims of flood disasters across the State.
“Floods are one of the most devastating natural disasters that can have negative effects on homes or businesses. I empathize with all Kogites, especially those who have been directly and indirectly affected by the ravaging flood that has crippled economic activities across the state,” he said.
While acknowledging the efforts of the Kogi State Government in tackling the disaster, Hon. Mubarak solicited the immediate intervention of the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.
Communities across 9 flood-prone Local Government Areas of the state had been ravaged by flood, leading to loss of lives, destruction of property as well as displacement of hundreds of people over the past few weeks.
