Motorists plying through Kabba-Omuo Ekiti road have been facing difficulties occasioned by lack of free flow of traffic over the bad condition of the road.

This is sequel to the collapse of the road at Ikoyi in Ijumu local government area of Kogi State.

The road is largely used by those travelling from the south western parts of the country and neighbouring Kwara and Ekiti states to the northern axis. Since the Ilorin-Omu-Aran-Egbe-Kabba road became bad, motorists preferred plying the Kabba-Omuo Ekiti road as alternative.

Articulated vehicles are currently stuck on the bad portion of the Kabba-Omuo Ekiti road as heavy rainfall continues to wreck havoc on the bad road.

Alerting the public on the danger posed by the road, Bisi Kazeem, the Assistant Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps HQ in Abuja, advised that motorists who are coming from or to the South West should use Kabba/Asaya/Ogidi/Ikare route as alternative pending when the road will be fixed.

“Members of the motoring public and general commuters travelling from or to Southwest, through Kabba-  Omuo Ekiti Federal Highway are hereby notified of a failed section of the road at Ikoyi under Ijumu local government area of Kogi State.

“This development has led to  lack of free flow of traffic at the said portion of the road.

“In view of the foregoing, motorists, travelers, and the general public are hereby advised to use Kabba/Asaya/Ogidi/Ikare  as alternative route to  or from  South West. The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing is already activating appropriate action to ameliorate the situation.

“The Federal Road Safety Corps solicits maximum cooperation of the motoring public on this development. The Corps will also continue to update the public periodically on further developments,” the statement read.
