Julius Olushola Abel (JOA), popularly known as Ontop is an indigene of Mopamuro Local Government of Kogi State. He is an inquisitive young man who is prepared to learn at every opportunity. JOA is a selfless gentleman who is in tune with the plight of the common man and this has been the motive backing his sojourn into the political arena.
JOA Ontop’s kind of politics is a peaceful and developmental politics.
Birth
JOA was born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Abel on the 4th of December, 1988.
Education and Skills
He attended Queensland Private School, Abule-Ijesha, Yaba, Lagos (1992-2000); and Igbobi College, Yaba, Lagos (2000-2006).
As a growing young man with a zeal for education, science and technology, he acquired Desktop Publishing skills at Development Research and Action Network, Folagoro, Somolu, Lagos and personally acquired Internet navigating skills between 2006 and 2009.
Internet Navigation led him towards a personal development on News Media, Website Design, and Blogging.
He proceeded to Kogi State University for Higher Education where he obtained Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Economics in 2014.
He served his father’s land, Nigeria under the aegis of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) from 2015-2016 as Economics Teacher in Odo-Otin High School, Okuku, Osun State before returning to his hometown, Mopamuro, in Kogi state to contribute to the development of his society via active participation in politics.
Work and Socio-Political Experience
1. JOA was a Member of the Banjo Amoto Moses (Kogi Gubernatorial Aspirant, 2015) Campaign Media and Strategy Team.
2. He was also Special Assistant on News Media to Majority Leader, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Olushola Kolawole, 2017.
3. He currently serves as the Special Assistant on News Media to the Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Matthew Olushola Kolawole, 2017 till date.
4. He is the Convener, Voice of Mopamuro Youths – A nongovernmental pressure group targeting at fostering peace and development in Mopamuro and Kogi State as a whole.
Community Service
JOA, as a youth corps member, rehabilitated a dysfunctional borehole for the benefit of the public in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government, Osun State as a personal Community Development Service (CDS) project. The unavailability and inaccessibility of clean and potable drinking water to the populace of the community inspired the vision that sustained the completion of the project.
The personal CDS project qualified him to be awarded Commendation Certificate by the Governing Board of National Youths Service Corps for his meritorious service.
