When Kogi state governor, Alh Ahmed Usman Ododo, announced the appointment of Ward Special Assistants in August this year, the initiative was seen as a significant step towards strengthening grassroots governance and ensuring that the needs and concerns of local communities are addressed.
This initiative aimed to deepen democracy and ensure participatory governance among the grassroots population.
According to the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon Kingsley Fanwo, the primary objective of this initiative was to promote inclusive governance. By doing so, the government hoped to create a more equitable and just society.
Unfortunately, most of the appointed Ward Special Assistants viewed this opportunity as a means to personal gain. However, one individual stood out from the rest. Hon. Momoh Abdulmumin (Abomi) one of the three WSA representing Idanuhua ward in Adavi local government area saw his appointment as a chance to establish himself as a trustworthy representative.
Hon. Momoh Abdulmumin worked tirelessly to ensure that Governor Ododo’s vision of inclusive governance was achieved. He engaged with local communities, listened to their concerns, and worked to address their needs. His dedication and commitment to serving the people earned him respect and admiration.
Since his appointment, Hon. Momoh Abdulmumin has been using his monthly salary to empower the less privileged in his ward. He shares his salary with the elderly and people living with disabilities, promoting sustainable and inclusive governance. This selfless act has not only improved the lives of those in need but has also inspired others to follow in his footsteps.
Hon. Momoh Abdulmumin’s selfless actions have earned him popularity within his ward and beyond. His commitment to good governance and grassroots participation makes him an ideal candidate for higher appointments in the future. As a true leader, he has demonstrated that public service is not just about personal gain, but about serving the people and making a positive impact on their lives.
