Minimum Wage: Concerned Kogi Workers Hails Buhari, Labour Over Peaceful Resolution

A group, Kogi state Concerned Workers Forum, has commended President Muhammadu Buhari and the organised labour for the peaceful resolution of the national minimal wage debacle.
Reacting to the outcome of the tripartite committee set up by the federal government on the review of the national minimal wage, the forum applauded the government’s will and determination to improve the welfare of the workers.
In a press release signed by the Chairman of the forum, Comrade Adex Shuaibu in Lokoja on Wednesday, the workers equally congratulated the organised labour for the victory in the struggle for the upward review of the minimum wage.
“The review of the national minimum wage will go along way to ameliorate the suffering of the workers in view of the high inflation and harsh condition of living in the country
“Though the gap between the rich and the poor its still very wide, the workers should continue with the struggle until victory over the exploiters is achieved,” the forum Chairman stated.
Shuaib expressed satisfaction of the forum on the dexterity, commitment and intelligent contributions at the tripartite committee meeting, assuring the labour movement of the forum’s unflinching support.
While commending the Federal government for accepting the recommendations of the national minimum wage committee and the promise of transmuting same to the national assembly, the workers also appealed to the legislators to as a matter urgency and national importance pass the bill without any delay.
While congratulating all Nigerians for yet another feat in the advancement in the march towards economic growth, the pleaded with industrialists, traders, farmers and stakeholders not to hike prices of essential commodities of the national minimum wage increase.
