The powerful breeze which followed the rainfall on the night of Wednesday has claimed two lives of those who were allegedly rushing to their homes.

The two victims were motorcycle riders who after the day’s work had resolved to go home on one bike because of the escalating fuel price from Ganaja junction to Ganaja village but the journey was cut short opposite commissioners’ quarters, Lokoja.

The thunderous breeze had brought one tree down across the road but unknown to the victims, because of the breeze and the impact of the falling rain, they could not see clearly till they ran into the woods and being crushed, bled to death.

They were in the rain till about 3 am, Thursday morning when security men on their usual patrol saw the scattered motorbike  and discovered that two people had been crushed.

Though the Police Public Relation Officer, ASP William Ayah said he had no details of the matter, a senior police officer told our reporter that the two bodies have been deposited at Ankuri morgue.
