I am not a fan of the Kogi West senator Dino Melaye. But being a die-hard follower of events that had so far unfolded in our political space, I can confidently argue that the Senator shuttles between political interest and the struggles of FRONTIERISM.
Political interest hatched his age longed feuds with the incumbent governor of the state (Yahaya Bello). Apparently, the April 14 assassination attempt on Dino Melaye’s life as he alleged was as a result of the feuds between the duo also.
However, frontierism actually labelled the senator as the most radical among his colleagues. Unfortunately, Mr Melaye failed to understand the style of the government in which he is part of; failures they are, but repugnant to criticism. Blame game as their stock in trade. Mr Melaye also, could not see the plank in his own eyes as inscribed in Mathew chapter 7vs5. Be that as it may, the alleged jumping out of a moving vehicle by the police seems like a MELODRAMA to me. Thus, wish for right answer to the following questions;
1. Where was Dino Melaye seated in the vehicle? Certainly, it must be in the middle with one policeman on his right and another on his left. So how could he have escaped?
2. Did he push the Armed Policeman by his side out first before attempting to jump out?
3. At what speed was the vehicle moving before Dino suddenly jumped out.
4. Let us assume Mr Melaye’s curiosity outweighed his consciousness for safety. How would the police rationalize the alleged JUMP OUT OF A MOVING VEHICLE with the injunctions that “Thugs aided Mr Melaye’s escape by blocking police vehicles?”
I hope earnestly that the Police IG will provide answers to these question when he shall appear before the Nigeria Senate on Thursday on the subject matter.
My take;
No matter how grievous Mr Melaye’s sin may have become, I still feel a man of such Noble personality should not be treated like a common criminal.
I wish Senator Dino Melaye quick recovery.
