A former Governor of Kogi State, Asiwaju Clarence Olafemi has described Senator Dino Melaye as an ungrateful man.
Speaking with newsmen in Lokoja on the alleged plan to offer the Senator an automatic ticket by the leadership of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olafemi said Melaye is a senator that eat alone.
He explained that the senator does not carry people along and he is not in a good book of the people and cannot attract development to the land.
He warned that any attempt to give automatic ticket to some aspirants will definitely tear the party apart in the state.
The former acting governor noted that they from the district have unanimously rejected any plan for imposition of candidate without creating a level playing ground for all the aspirants.
“Who ever is willing to contest should come out and join the race and who ever win at the end of primary others will join hands to support him.
“We will not accept any attempt to shut us down in a process that many of us have spent our resources and time.
“The party should allow a level playing ground for all the aspirants. Already, three aspirants have obtained the nomination form in Abuja, shutting them out is not the best and the effect of the imposition is that there will be a mass defection from PDP at the state level and the dreams of the party to reclaim the governance of the state will be a mirage.
“There are area where consensus can work that is noted but area like Kogi west the leaders should allow the conduct of primary election to elect the candidate of the party for senatorial election.
“In Kogi State no body can work for Senator Dino Melaye because is an ungrateful man who is not with any body in the state. We rescue him from the recalled process not because he is popular but to prove a point that since they don’t know how he get there they can not also remove him.
“He cannot come home to campaign and who will do that for him if he is in Abuja.
“He is a senator that eat alone he does not carry people along and he is not in a good book of the people and cannot attract development to the land.
“It is sad for the people of Kogi west, they should find solution to it other wise people will leave the party,” he lamented.
