May Day: NLC Threatens To Disrupt Governance In Kogi

Nigerian labour Congress (NLC) ,in Kogi state on Friday threatened to disrupt governance if their full April 2015 salary is not paid by the Governor Idris Wada led administration in the state.

The state chairman of the Nigerian labour Congress (NLC) Comrade Onuh Eboka and his counterpart of the Trade Union Congress (TUC) Comrade AbdulGaniyu A D handed down the warning in their messages at the 2015 workers’ day celebration in Lokoja.

The union also expressed disappointment over the reduction in workers salary and advised the Wada administration to rescind the decision with immediate to avert another industrial crisis in the state.

The union condemned and rejected high level of humiliation and intimidation meted out to local government workers across the 21 local government areas of the state.

“The organized labour in the state can no longer fold her hands to the level of atrocities, victimisation, intimidation and the sacking of workers in the local government areas with out due process”, the NLC boss said.

He described most government welfare packages as inimical to good industrial relations,counter productive,barbaric and act of slavery.

“Congress is not happy with government refusal to reconstitute the SUBEB in accordance with relevance laws of the country”,he said .

Eboka also frown on the government  inconsistencies in the percentage used in the payment of teachers salaries and the non implementation of annual leave bonus.

The Union pass vote of no confidence on the state local government pension board and called for the total over hauling of the board.

The union wants the government to re -activate the moribund kogi state transport company.
