Mass Defection Rocks Ankpa as Over 400 Youths, Women Decamp to APC in Enjema

Unusual liveliness took over the town of Enjema, headquarter of Enjema Ward I on Monday 4th February, 2019 as the campaign train of Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu’s Ward to Ward rally tour Enjema district.

Following as grand finale of the day long tour which saw the party men moved round Inye, Ofugo and Ika, it was a triumphant entry to Enjema centre, venue of Enjema Ward IV as the youths were in their large numbers.

It is on this note that opposition parties, especially the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi State suffered major setback as hundreds of youths and women defected to the ruling APC across Inye, Ofugo, Ika and Enjema, all in Enjema district of Ankpa local government area of the state.

Speaking on behalf of the defectors in Enjema Ward I of Ankpa local government, one of the defectors, Hon AT Muhammed who aspired for the state assembly on the platform of the APDA attributed their decision to join the ruling party to lack of internal democracy and direction in their former party.

“For me, it is a welcome back home and I and my supporters are set to work in line with all APC directives towards winning the 2019 general elections,” he said during the ceremony at Enjema centre.

While receiving the defectors, the Honorable member representing Ankpa II constituency at the Kogi state house of assembly, Hon Alfa Momoh Rabiu thanked them for their bold steps and urged them to keep faith with the Leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari and vote for all the APC candidates in Kogi State and Nigeria.

Earlier before the formal defection, the Local Government Chairman of APC, Hon Abdullahi Zakari in his welcome address described the defection as the end of PDP in the local government and state in general promising to give all members equal right and level playing field to achieve their political desires.

It is worthy to note that the party’s flag bearer for Ankpa, Olamaboro and Omala federal constituency, Hon Abdullahi Ibrahim Halims started the days rally before heading on further on campaign cum consultations to neighbour local government areas.

Also present were the honorable commissioner for environment, Hon Sanusu Usman Yahaya, member representing Ankpa I constituency, Hon Ahmed Mohammed, the local government administrator, Hon John Aduga, local government Secretary, Hon Khalid DJ and a host of other chieftains of Ankpa origin.

Highlight of the day was commissioning of a grassroots campaign office of the “Next Level” canvassers as carried out by Hon Rabiu Alfa supported by the Ankpa local government APC campaign DG, Hon Mohammed Ibrahim alias Ayuba Nana.
