Mass Communication Department in Kogi State University, Anyigba, owing to its academic records and discipline that it has maintained over the years has been the best in all ramifications.

The Department’s examiner, Mr. Success Ojih, who made the declaration in an address he delivered recently at an event to bid the immediate past Head of the Department, Sister (Dr) Chika Asogwa held at the Faculty of Social Science of the university.

Mr. Ojih, who described the department as one which has ensured that its students always put in their best in their academics, said that the department frowns at any form of student intimidation, sexual harassment, or bribery and corruption.

He said prior to the emergence of Sr. Asogwa as the head, the department had myriad of problems including that of image, saying that the immediate past head used her position to ensure that her vision of heralding change in the Department was realized.

According to the lecturer, students of the department all realized that the former HOD was a woman with principle and determination in achieving whatever she puts her minds on, saying that her reign at the department has set it on a higher pedestal.

The examiner, whose position had earlier been echoed by others who spoke before him, expressed the determination of the staff to sustain her legacies, assuring that they would keep the flag flying to ensure that her efforts were not in vain.

On his part, another lecturer at the department, Dr. Gabriel Ottah expressed the desire of the staff to ensure that the bequest the former HOD has left behind is continued to take the department to another level.

He thanked Dr. Asogwa for her continuous perseverance even in the face of daunting challenges, adding that it got the department to where it currently is and wished her the best in her new endeavour at the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti.

The former HOD thanked the staff of the department for the honour done her, assuring that even though she was changing location, her heart would still be with Kogi State University’s Mass Communication Department.
