Wife of Lokoja local government Administrator, Hajiya Fatima Shiru has been conferred with the award of the Best First Lady in Kogi State, in view of her exemplary service to the youths and women of the area.
The leadership of Voice of Kogi Youths presented the award to her in her office in Lokoja, Friday.
Speaking during the presentation, President of the body, Hon Adefemi Olufemi had described Hajiya Fatima as a woman of virtue who uses her office to impact the youths and children of her Local Government positively.
According to the body, their choice of the Lokoja First Lady was based solely on her demonstration of love and commitment towards empowering the young ones in the council.
They pointed at some of her pet projects through which she is empowering the less privileged and described them as exemplary, and urged her to continue in that direction.
The body, while calling on Mrs Shiru to sustain the tempo and if possible, increase it, called on wives of other administrators in the state to emulate her commitment towards improving the Welfare of her people.
On their parts, the Head of the Local Government Women Welfare Office, Hajiya Aduke Kabir Maikarfi and other officers lauded Hajiya Fatima Shiru for making women welfare a priority.
They said the wife of Lokoja administrator has, through her humility, demonstrated genuine efforts of empowering the vulnerable members of the public.
In her reaction, the wife of Lokoja Local Government administrator, Hajiya Fatima Shiru expressed shock at the recognition of her “modest” efforts at improving the lives of the less privileged in Lokoja LGA.
She thanked the body for the recognition and promised to rededicate herself to the service of the people.
Hajiya Fatima, who also thanked her husband for creating the enabling environment for her to impact youths and women, said the administration is determined to attract development to the people.
She further expressed gratitude to the wife of the state governor, Hajiya Rashida Bello, for carrying wives of the administrators along in her programmes and described her as a mother to all.
