Lokoja LG Chairman, Education Commissioner, Special Adviser Visits Students’ Communities, Victims of Robbery in Felele

The Lokoja Local Government Transition Committee Chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Adamu along with the Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones and Special Adviser to Kogi State Governor on Youths and Students Affairs, Hon. Oladele John Nihi on Wednesday paid a visit to students communities and victims of the robbery in Felele Communities.

The Chairman who has had several strategic security meetings with security agencies, the traditional institutions and students bodies has since Monday embarked on security operations in the affected communities.

The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Wemi Jones, who addressed some of the victims, expressed sadness that such an incident would happen to students in the state.

He assured the student communities that the Governor Usman Ododo will leave no stone unturned to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to book and also prevent similar unfortunate incidence.

“While I commiserate with the student community, I want to assure you that the safety of lives and properties would continue to remain the priority of the Kogi State Government under Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and the perpetrators will be caught,” he said.

Hon. Wemi Jones commended the Local Government Chairman for the proactive measures he has taken so far.

Addressing the robbery victims, the Local Government Chairman urged the student communities to comply with the 10pm – 5am curfew that is being implemented. This he said is to enable the security agents carry out their job smoothly.

“The Local Government is in working closely with the Dean of Students Affairs and Chief Security Officer of the Federal University Lokoja and the Management of Kogi State Polytechnic to ensure the safety of students. I assure you all that our security operations will continue in your communities.

“We have also provided to the students representatives phone numbers of our quick response team,” he said.

Comrade Okehi Alimi, who spoke on behalf of the students, thanked both the State and Local Government for the visit.

He appealed to government to sustain ongoing security operations in the area.
