Lokoja-Kogi Reps Seat: APC Closes Defense at Tribunal After Fourteen Witnesses

Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal continued hearing on a House of Representatives defense by Ibrahim Shaba Isah and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Isah Abdulkarem Usman and All Progressive Congress (APC) with petition number EPT/KG/NASS/HR/10/2019.

APC counsel presented two witnesses which made the total number of witnesses they have presented before the Tribunal so far to be fourteen and applied to close their case.

First witness presented was Ahmed Ajibogu Ahmed who is a farmer and a businessman and the second witness is Adamu D. Ibrahim, also a businessman and a farmer. They both agreed that their statement should be adopted as evidence before the Tribunal.

When questioned by PDP’s counsel, they both agreed that they voted, were accredited before voting, there was use of smart card reader, voters register, their names were ticked and have their name and picture on the voters card they used in voting. There was no question from the first and third Respondent counsels.

The third Respondent counsel presented one witness named Abdullahi Adamu, a resident in Bawude village in Lokoja Local Government Area of Kogi State who is a businessman. He also agreed for his statement to be adopted as evidence.

He was asked by the Petitioner’s counsel if he agrees he is not an INEC staff, had polling unit agents and voted at polling until 008 of Ijihu/Ohono in Oworo ward, he agreed. He was also affirmative that he was accredited before voting, there was use of smart card reader, voters register, their names were ticked and have his name and picture on the voters card he used in voting.

Defense ended, counsel was asked to file final written address and petition was adjourned to 22nd August, 2019.
