With the interesting and mind-boggling events unfolding within the nations political environment, 2019 general elections is going to be an interesting encounter between the jokers and the political tragedian’s.
A former CPC Lokoja local government Youth Leader and a ward Governor, Umar Farouk Bakabe has joined the lokoja | constituency state house assembly race on the platform of the Sustainable National Party (SNP) to replace Rt. Hon umar Ahmed Imam, who is currently representing the constituency in the state assembly, by 2019.
Farouk, who is the flagbearer of the SNP to run for the assembly seat, pledged to offer uncommon representation and bring infrastructural development to the grassroots in his constituency.
The former youth leader aspirant who acknowledged the high rate of youth unemployment in the constituency, said he believes his deep rooted knowledge and understanding of the basic requirements in the politics of lawmaking in Nigeria will help him excel if given the opportunity.
He said, “ I have gone round the entire Lokoja constituency to find out the infrastructural needs of the people and also itemized them accordingly. There are some that are obviously the responsibilities of the local and state governments executive but I am already working on a template that will provide a working synergy where the organs of government can complement each other in favour of my people.
“This I am confident will be feasible and smoothly implemented because of the type of politics and government of inclusion that Sustainable National Party whose ideology views governance as a complete management and development of the Socio-Ecological Systems in its sphere which will provide an enabling environment for the developmental projects that will evenly spread across the 5 wards in the constituency. ”
He added, “ I understand perfectly that legislative representation requires a great deal of doggedness , dedication, sacrifice and networking . In this regard , I promise to deploy the power and influence of my relationship across the state through the processes of law making which obviously includes sponsoring of bills and proper over sight functions . I will also pursue and lobby for state government policies and programmes that will benefit my people and uplift entire kogi state.
“ May I also add that I am disturbed by the level of youth unemployment in the constituency. As such, I shall modify the youth friendly programmes in such a way that it will suits the needs of the youths in my constituency , ” he said.
He therefore called on the good people of lokoja | constituency to vote for him to enable fair and equitable representation.
“In line with the slogan and philosophy of our great party, “I shall pursue fair representation where the political space would be opened up to accommodate all shades of opinion while I be their servant and they are the masters”
