‘Local terrorist’ Arrested for Murder of Arc Al-Hassan and Gbenga Kekere

A man known to be the leader of a gang in Kogi has been arrested in connection to the murder of Arc Lolo Al-Hassan and Gbenga Kekere around Bassa on their way back from a missionary trip.

Iliyasu, the alleged to be the leader of the gang that had been terrorising Bassa local government, Kogi State.

Iliyasu is also alleged to be involved in the gruesome murder of late Engineer Lolo Alhassan from Bassa local government.

He was arraigned along with several other suspects by the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Samuel Ogunjemulusi.

Also from Kabba axis, another Fulani man was arrested with assorted weapons and is suspected to be one of those terrorising the area.

Some youths from Ibaji local government area, said to have kidnapped two mobile police men on anti-riot operation in the troubled area, were also paraded with the sophisticated weapons that were recovered from them.

In their statements, the arrested youths numbering over 10 said they were vigilante members defending their village in view of the communal clashes in Ibaji LGA.

The Commissioner said that as part of the command’s readiness in fighting criminals, 350 Police officers and men have been deployed from Abuja, while 15 patrol vehicles were already on ground.
