The political system of Ajaokuta local government has betrayed the youth and broken the hearts of the old, who in their youth age saw better days ahead for themselves but at the end it all turn to a daydream. Our social fabric is being frayed and our ‘representathieves’ are only representing themselves.
The time has come for a break from the old ways, for change and restoration of the peoples hope in Ajaokuta local government of Kogi state.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) aspirant for the chairmanship position in Ajaokuta local government, Comrade Salami Abdulraheem Okekenu from Upaja/Ichuwa Ward has unveiled his political manifesto to the good people of his constituency with a promise to bring social-economic development to his constituency through participatory approach.
There are certain qualities that a good leader must posses to able to have confidence in him and Comrade Salami has those qualities.
First and foremost, the best qualities of a leader is honesty, fear of God and loving. A faithful and effective leader is trustworthy and reliable. He must capture the essence of truth, display sincerity, candor and practice what he preaches. He makes decisions and accepts responsibility for his actions and his words. The same is true with Comrade Salami in his dealing with his people. He makes promises and keeps those promises. Somebody that people can rely upon. Loving people with all his heart, might, mind, soul and striving to help them as a true mark of responsible leader.
Comrade Salami has called on the good people of Ajaokuta to define the kind of leader they want and ensure that the leader they finally elect is the one they can trust and relate with harmoniously, stressing that he has no doubt in his mind that this time around the people will consider capacity, capability, antecedent and preparedness, to be subject of scrutiny of the common man and woman in the constituency as they go to the polls to elect their chairman to represent them at the local government level.
He said, “I am not contesting for the position for my sake but for the sake of the people I want to represent and I want to prove to them that I will be an example of a good representative and not a ‘representathieves'”.

Comrade Salami is like a book with a thousand pages. When he worked with Siemens and with Julius Berger and also as a personnel officer in Rock Bridge when constructing Lokoja- Ajaokuta road, he helped our youths to achieve their aim without trading the community slot of employment for his personal interest.
His selfless effort in transforming the lives of youths in Ajaokuta by giving them the opportunity to work and earn a living can not be forgotten in a hurry. Most of the youths that utilized the opportunity are still living up to standard till today.
Comrade Salami have a lot to offer us that will contribute positively to our life and the life of our children’s.
He added that if given the opportunity to be council chairman, he would bring his wealth of experience to bear in developing Ajaokuta constituency.
