LG Poll: Misappropriate Funds and Go to Jail, Awoniyi Warns Yagba Contenders

Politicians seeking to be Council Chairmen in the next dispensation from Yagba Federal Constituency of Kogi state have been warned of misappropriation of funds or risk going to jail.

Kogi State Deputy Governor, Yomi Awoniyi, gave the warning at a Peoples Democratic Party stakeholders meeting held in Mopa, Mopa Muro Local Government Area of the State.

The Deputy Governor urged the people to elect candidates with status, name to protect and only those who have the ability to think in an extra-ordinary way in moving the council forward.

Awoniyi, urged the people of the Constituency to serve as a model in the selection of credible candidates, adding that the present administration in the state would not encourage political party faction.

He called on those with political differences within the party to rather than be confrontational,make dialogue their best option.

Yomi Awoniyi, urged aggrieved politicians who are in court over the party’s recently held congresses to seek out of court settlement by exhausting the party’s internal dispute machinery in seeking redress.

Awoniyi described the meeting of the constituency as a beginning of a process that will engender growth and development, urged politicians to see politics as service and not self oriented.

The Deputy Governor tasked the people of the constituency on patience, describing the Capt Idris Wada led administration in the state as transparent, a listening government and having an unwavering desire to take the state to the next level of development.

Awoniyi maintained that the present administration in the state is one of service for development,has drive and is resolute for the progress of the state.

In their separate remarks, representatives of the three local Government Areas that make up the  constituency, pledged their commitment to the party and appreciated the confidence repose on the Deputy Governor by Capt Idris Wada.
