The Executive Chairman of Yagba West Local Government, Chief Pius Kolawole, on Tuesday, presented two billion, three hundred and seventy million, nine hundred and eighty three thousand, six hundred and fifty Naira (N2,370,983,650) only as 2023 budget estimate to the local government legislative council for consideration and passage.
The proposed estimates tagged ‘Budget of Hope’ is tailored towards five thematic developmental goals of job creation, healthcare, education, agriculture and youth empowerment.
The council chairman maintained that the budget was carefully put together in line with present economic challenges and the new direction agenda of the state government.
Analyzing the budget figures, recurrent expenditure takes one billion, five hundred and fifty million, seven hundred and five thousand, seven hundred and ten Naira (N1,550,705,710) while eight hundred and twenty million, two hundred and seventy seven thousand, nine hundred and forty Naira (N820,277,940) was earmarked for capital expenditure.
In an emotional speech, the chairman thanked the legislative council for their cooperation, noting that this might be his last legislative function vis-a-vis budget presentation as tenure of elected council officials ends this year.
