Remember, when you came back

from your unjust banishment

the vulnerable gladden for hope

as you came in renewal of life

after decade of untold injustice

Remember you confessed all alone

to what they did us in twelve years

As many bodies turned skeletons

You were not blind to the reality

Remember your pledge to the children

to restore them back their education

When you came back all accepted

the crown prince owns the throne

We assured you legitimate supports

But as the clock thick; time couldn’t avail

You were there when we assembled

We refused to vote until you did

To ensure inevitable was lost forever

When the News came the result

We gained sigh of relieves in our hearts

The realisation that our right was upheld

Alas a day passed via inconclusive night

Nothing remained but an aborted hope

Silence rented the air; the rumour was true

You committed no crime; no case to argue

But Death Tribunal was constituted

You were arraigned for the trial

“What are his offences?” we asked.

We were told you stole our mandate

“Heaven protest with us! We gave him”

Gloomy mood on the celebration day

All turned lawyers to review constitution

Femi Falana spoke from abroad

His voice echoed for replacement

We asked; “to oust whose right?”

Shortly the Imam came in turban

Innocent victim;

Audu you were condemned

Without crime, no fair hearing?

Natural justice was abused by nature

Then came the imposition of the Monarch

The court deprived the poor man’s hope

Alas! The Magistrates affirmed the verdict

We hoped for worst preparing for the best

Then came endless screening in history

No annual income to repay our debts

KSU witnessed a librarian slump before shelves

We need not be told he resumed duty in hunger

Arise O! Compatriot Kogi call obey

An obedient servant bade his family goodbye

But Remember above all;

Audu you came

No one called you

Yet leaving without goodbye

Wherever you may be,

Tell Abacha he is born again

Why has he chosen Kogi state?

Cowardice is not obedience

We shall revolt the law soon

Student has lost education

But Audu, you caused it.
