The member representing Okene l State constituency at the Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Lawi AT Ahmed has urged Ebira people to eschew acrimony and embrace peace, tolerance and peaceful co-existence in order to foster the much-needed unity and development.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker gave the advice while speaking to newsmen in Okene, Kogi State on Saturday.
Lawi noted that no society can attain an appreciable level of development without amity, tolerance and without being belligerent.
He regretted that the killing of Mr. Yusuf Otaru Adabenege and his driver by an unknown gunmen do not speak well of what the Ebiraland represents which are good character, unity, love and oneness.
He said: “Ebiraland will be better if we all embrace the spirit of unity which is necessary towards achieving the much-needed socio-economic and political greatness. Ebira people should not lose hope because of the skirmishes being experienced last week. It may be the Ebiraland’s last momentary setback.”
Lawi further said with the political will being exhibited by Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello and APC-led Government towards tackling all forms of terrorism in every part of the State will experience peace and tranquillity.
The lawmaker hailed Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello for his consciousness on security, advised all local governments administrators to also be committed to the issue of security, even as he urged that they should ensure that their security architectures are impermeable.
He also advice the people of Ebiraland to be their brother’s keeper and always report any suspicious people they see in their various community.
He praised Gov. Bello for all his developmental strides in the state.
What cannot be contested is that Kogi State can now be compared among state of the Nigerian federation where the atmosphere of sense of belonging has been created and nourished for peace to reign.
Lawi said: “Governor Bello has been so unswerving in developing Kogi State in all ramifications.
“Gov. Bello’s strides since he assumed office have been tremendous. He has made development get to the grassroots, even as he has taken Kogi State to a higher level. He has ensured that all ethnic groups in the state have a sense of belonging. They should in turn, work hard to ensure that peace reigns in their communities in the state.
“There is no doubt that development in Kogi State has been so massive. Development has been going very fast which is good.”
He urged Kogi residents to be security conscious, even as he advised that their actions should be within the ambits of the law so that the state would continue to experience peace.
