Attention:

Chief John Oyegun

National Chairman, APC,

Abuja.

Sequel to our last letter notifying the national leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) of the crisis rocking the state chapter of the party, particularly the shambolic fight between Governor Yahaya Bello and Senator Dino Melaye, we notice the fight has disintegrated into something messy, with some set of people coming to INEC headquarters to demand the senator’s recall.

The problem is the sycophants around the Governor and the Senator who fuel the crisis and turn it to ATM machine for their selfish interest.

The leadership of the APC under your able watch should be remembered as a body that stood and fought for the unity of the party, and above all upheld the interest, integrity and every other notable ideas that our great party stands for.

Notably amongst this will be the way internal crisis are handled and resolved under your leadership in which discipline must reign supreme in the party. As the leader of the party, you are in the position to settle disputes and instill discipline on erring members. We should take a clue and learn lessons from PDP, as similar crisis became the beginning of the end for PDP. It will be sad if we also have to tow this same path of party destruction.

If the lingering crisis in Kogi is not checkmated now, it can escalate to other parts of the country and this will not be too good under your pragmatic leadership, putting into consideration of how you have worked and toiled to bring the party to this level.

Rivers state is already having similar issues with the crisis that erupted last week between the Honourable Minister of Aviation, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe. Regarding the crisis in Kogi, we have tried to intervene by reaching out to political leaders, but it seems to be escalating because some politicians see it as a way to make money by taking sides.

It is the national secretariat that can wade into the Kogi State crisis as it is today. There is even crisis at the state executive level, as the state has two separate executives. Given this scenario, if a national convention is held today, which delegates will be recognised amongst the two executives? And the number of states executives that you have control on, the better your strength in determining the decision at the convention.

Our group is pleading and seeking to partner with the leadership of our great party to try and resolve the issue at hand. Let Kogi be used as a litmus test to the different crisis rocking some state chapters of the party.

At our last meeting, we resolved that as a matter of urgency, the leadership of the APC should wade into the ongoing crisis between the governor of the state and the senator representing Kogi west senatorial district.

We agreed that the national chairman should issue a press statement as regards the crisis stating national secretariat’s stand on working towards resolving the crisis and that both parties should call their aides to order and at such stop issuing hate speeches against each other.

Also, we resolved that the national chairman should please pay a working visit to Kogi State, so as to avail him the opportunity to meet the state Governor and also initiate discussion towards settling the crisis.

We agreed that a committee comprising of respected party stalwarts and stakeholders be constituted with the mandate of suggesting solutions to resolve and put an end to the crisis.

Signed:

Ekundayo Abayomi Segun

National President

Concerned Constituency Citizens.
