The leadership of Kogi Youth Leaders Forum has called on President Goodluck Jonathan to come to the aid of the youths especially in his choice of appointments into ministerial and party positions.

In a statement jointly signed by the forum’s President, Comrade Alamoh Kehinde Samuel (AKS), and Secretary, Comrade Hassan Sadiq, the forum  urged the president to ensure the person that will replace the immediate past Minister for Youth Development, Mr Inuwa Abdukadir, will be an active youth within the age bracket of 18-40.

“We are using these medium once again to send ripples of hope to the teeming Nigerian Youths that our collective struggle to liberate ourselves from shackles of slavery is still on track”, the statement reads.

“We have tried those that are not youth and they have failed us, we believe if we are in the position to decide what happen to huge capital voted for the Nation youth development, there will be positive results in all sphere of youth developments, let us be our own judge on how to use the monies meant for our development. We are tired of corrupt Ministers of Youths who are old enough to be our fathers.

“More so, we have not forgotten in a hurry how one of us in the person of Comrade Olabode Adeyemi  contested the PDP National youth leadership in the last National convention of the party but was dropped after which we challenged the undemocratic permutation of the party putting in a 63yrs old man to occupy the office. Our victory in the court of law over this issue further shows we are on the part of justice.

“The opportunity has come again for the party to correct this error by ensuring justice is done in the forthcoming national Mini convention of the party slated for 31th July,2013,Justice should be done by ensuring Comrade Olabode Adeyemi (Youth) and any other aspirant who is within the youth age bracket of 18-40 are the only persons allow to contest.

“For Development to come to our nation, the youth needs to be carried along especially on matters that relate to us. We are therefore pleading with the leadership of People Democratic Party(PDP) to ensure justice is done. One of our own Comrade Olabode Adeyemi from Kogi state, trusted and a reliable person, an experienced technocrat, an opinion builder, lover of the common youths and a long time member of the party to see justice finally. We believe in the dreams of GEJ for Nigerian youths.

The forum pass a vote of confidence on the Governor of Kogi State, Captain Idris Ichalla Wada, for the governor’s initiative of free medical care for Kogites, describing the efforts as a welcome development. The forum pledged their support for Gov Idris Wada.

While congratulating the newly elected leadership of National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) under the leadership of Comrade Abduwaheed as the National President, the forum re-affirmed its belief that his emergence in the just concluded Minna 2013 National congress shows the Nigerian Youths are awake from sleep.

“We wish you the very best as you show us the direction towards youth emancipation in Nigerian”
